Peter Spier crafted classic children’s books on American history, but he was born in Amsterdam. A love for ships and water is one of his favorite themes. Build Hendrika the cow, who traveled Holland’s canals. Construct a Thames sailing barge in the shadow of the London Bridge. Construct an Erie Canal boat. Fill Noah’s Ark with pairs of animals. Build a whale to rescue Jonah. All inspired by the loving detail in Mr. Spier’s art and stories.
