Connecticut has a rich history of factories. From Eli Whitney’s Armory which was located on our site and built in 1798 to A.C. Gilbert’s factory Erector Square located 2 miles away in New Haven. In collaboration with Preservation Connecticut, the Eli Whitney Museum & Workshop will take you on a journey through time and place to better understand factories in our area.
Have you looked closely at the architecture of a factory? Before electric light windows were an essential part of the design. Many considerations must be taken when designing a factory. This is the perfect summer camp for you if you are interested in history, architecture, design, and energy generation & transfer.
